Health

The Health Education program is one component of a well rounded student. Health Education programs provide a setting in which teachers, parents, and community members partner to help students focus on health prevention concepts and to practice life skills in a safe and supportive environment. At NicReport we believe that students should learn the social implications of e-cigarettes, refusal techniques on how to say no to peer pressure, and visualizing the propaganda used by major vaping companies. And combining all the topics, students create a PSA(Public Service Announcement)

Biology

Biology is the study of life. It includes an introduction to the scientific method, cytology, genetics, botany, zoology, ecology, taxonomy, evolution, chemistry, and microbiology. Biology forms the basis for all life sciences. In 9th grade biology students learn about cell structure and function, cell organelles, and chemical effect on cells. We have paved the path to integrating biology with cellular effects of e-cigarettes through a PBL(Project Based Learning). Students learn through interactive materials such as visualizing apoptosis through a fluorescence microscope. And with their knowledge create a project that talks about a major effect of e-cigarettes on the body, cellularly, chemically, or physiologically.
